Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Sean Clifford is back with the Cincinnati Bengals, as the AFC North team opted to re-sign him. Clifford was released by Cincinnati on Monday. The Bengals then signed him to their practice squad after he cleared waivers, the team announced on Tuesday.

The Bengals today signed QB Sean Clifford to the practice squad.
Clifford, a second-year player, spent the past three games on the Bengals’ active roster. He was waived yesterday and cleared waivers today.
The move comes the same week the Bengals are expected to have star quarterback Joe Burrow back in action after missing nine games due to a toe injury. Cincinnati also has Joe Flacco and Jake Browning on the roster, leaving Clifford without a spot on the active roster. Still, he’ll be a deep insurance at the quarterback position for the Bengals, who will be playing the Baltimore Ravens on Thanksgiving Day this coming Thursday.
A fifth-round selection by the Packers at the 2023 NFL Draft, Clifford has yet to see action on the field in 2025. He also did not log a game in 2024, when he was still with Green Bay. He was released by the Packers in August, during the final roster cuts for the 2025 campaign.
During his rookie season in the league in 2023, the former Penn State Nittany Lions star quarterback appeared in two games but did not attempt a pass nor record meaningful numbers, posting just negative-2 rushing yards.
