Former Green Bay Packers superstar wide receiver Davante Adams had a quality performance Thursday night for the Los Angeles Rams against the San Francisco 49ers. In fact, he paced the Rams with 88 receiving yards on five catches and 11 targets.

But his effort ultimately went for naught, as Los Angeles fell prey to the Niners at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood to the tune of a 26-23 score.

The Rams trailed by 14 points in the first half, but later found their groove. They tied the game at 20-20 in the fourth period before trading field goals, which led to overtime. San Francisco scored first on a field goal in OT, and while the Rams got the ball back for a chance to either tie with a field goal or win with a touchdown, they failed to do any of those.

Davante Adams speaks up on McVay’s decision that doomed the Rams against 49ers

Los Angeles’ hopes of defeating Mac Jones and the visiting Niners were flattened after the Rams decided to go for it on fourth-and-1 in the clutch in overtime. The Rams couldn’t convert on it, leading to San Francisco’s win.

Adams spoke about Rams head coach Sean McVay’s call on that play, which saw LA hand the ball to running back Kyren Williams, who was then stopped on his tracks by San Francisco’s stop unit.

“I mean, I don’t not gonna comment on whether or not I was a fan of it. I’m not. If it works, then I’m a fan of it. If it doesn’t, then I’m not,” said Adams after the game (h/t Michael J. Duarte of NBC LA).

“Obviously, I mean, that’s that’s typically how it goes. You get it’s not my job to call plays. That’s his job. I’m sure he beating himself up over it because it didn’t work. But like again, if we find a way to get the first down, and it’s a different conversation,” added Adams, who played his first eight seasons in the NFL with the Packers.

The Rams dropped to 3-2 after the loss to San Francisco. Up next for LA is a game against the Baltimor Ravens in Week 6 on the road.
