Ex-Pro Bowl TE David Njoku set to visit with AFC team

Former Pro Bowl tight end David Njoku has a visit set up on Monday with an AFC contender.

Njoku will visit with the Los Angeles Chargers, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The former Cleveland Brown remains unsigned after a down year last year.

Njoku was a Pro Bowl selection in 2023, but has been unable to replicate those numbers. That year, he caught 81 passes for 822 yards and six touchdowns. A knee injury hindered him last year, and he announced that he would be leaving the team at the end of last season.

The Chargers theoretically have a role for someone like Njoku. Oronde Gadsden made an impression as a rookie last season with 664 receiving yards and three touchdowns, but the only real depth option the Chargers have is ex-Raven Charlie Kolar.

The Chargers should be an attractive landing spot for offensive players, especially at this stage of the offseason. No word on whether Mike McDaniel is advocating for him as aggressively as he did with some other players, though.
