Ex-Raiders HC Jon Gruden Gets Good News About NFL Future on Thursday

When Jon Gruden resigned from the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021 due to an email scandal that included racist, misogynistic and homophobic language, it appears his NFL career could be over. However, he's been getting back into the public eye in recent months and it looks like many around the NFL starting to forgive him for his past transgressions.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Thursday that they have reinstated Gruden into their Ring of Honor. He was removed following the email scandal in 2021 but the franchise decided that he was an important part of their history and wanted him part of the Ring of Honor.

“I got a chance to get reconnected this season at a game with the Buccaneers,” Gruden told the Tampa Bay Times. “Some of my best memories in life were at Raymond James Stadium with the Bucs and it’s a great feeling and a great honor.”

This is actually a pretty big step in the right direction for Gruden if he hopes to coach in the NFL again. He didn't get any interviews for head coaching jobs this offseason but there's momentum building that he could get another chance next year.

What remains to be seen is if teams see him as a head coach or an offensive coordinator at this stage in his career.
