Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss recently made headlines after making a stunning revelation on TV. On Sunday, the 47-year-old revealed that he has been "battling something internal."
Moss did not provide the details of his condition. However, he said that his decision to wear glasses on the show was not a sign of disrespect but rather, the former Marshall University standout insinuated that it was to cover his eyes. On the Sunday, Nov. 24, episode of "Sunday NFL Countdown," fans noticed that Moss' eyes were visibly colored yellow.
At this point, there are still a lot of questions surrounding the four-time All-Pro wide receiver's health. Daily Mail recently spoke with Dr. James Dello Russo, a New Jersey-based optometrist, to discuss Moss' condition. According to Russo, "It was clear that Moss had jaundice, a yellowing of the whites of the eyes."
"Randy does not specify what sort of internal condition he has, which means we can only speculate as to what it could be," Russo told Daily Mail. "It is difficult to tell what he has beyond jaundice, which isn't really a condition but more just a description of a yellowing of the whites of the eyes."
However, Russo did say that it's possible that Moss could be infected with Hepatitis A or D. Both viruses affect the liver, and are possible causes of jaundice.
The silver lining here is according to Russo, Hepatitis is a condition that can be cured.
"If it is hepatitis, we do have a cure for that — so he can get better and pretty quickly, within a month, get over that," he told Daily Mail.
"The liver can heal with medical management, amazingly, which may be able to reverse what's causing the yellowing of the eyes."
Gallstones, a condition that impacts both the gall bladder and the kidney, is another potential reason behind Moss' yellow eyes, per Russo.
In his announcement, Moss revealed that he "feels great" and that he has a good team of doctors around him. Hopefully, the six-time Pro Bowler is able to heal quickly from whatever condition he may be battling.
