Despite being drafted two years ago, Bralen Trice has yet to play in the regular season. The Falcons edge rusher should be available for training camp this summer, though.
Trice suffered an ACL tear which kept him sidelined for his entire rookie season. The former third-rounder then aggravated the same knee last summer. That resulted in a move to injured reserve covering the start of the regular season. Trice never managed to see the field.
Things appear to be in a better place entering camp in 2026, however. Trice was a participant in spring work, as detailed by team reporter Tori McElhaney. That included a regular rotation in 11-on-11 team drills. Padded practices have yet to begin, but that is of course an encouraging development in this case.
Trice drew strong reviews for his work during training camp prior to his ACL tear. The Washington product was in line to handle a regular defensive role as a rookie and again last season. If he can avoid any further setbacks on the injury front over the coming weeks, Trice should be able to establish himself as at least a backup presence along the edge. Atlanta enjoyed a significant improvement in pass rush production last year, and maintaining it will be key under a new coaching staff.
Jalon Walker thrived during his rookie campaign, and he will remain a core figure along the defensive front for years to come. Fellow 2025 first-rounder James Pearce Jr. was productive as well last season, but he faces the strong possibility of a suspension to open the coming year. That could result in Trice taking on a notable role during the fall, provided he is able to play in the regular season for the first time in his career.
2026 will represent Trice’s age-25 campaign. Two years remain on his rookie contract, and the Falcons will not be in position to pursue an early extension in this case given his missed time. Still, Trice’s value would receive a boost if he managed to remain healthy through the summer after a positive offseason on the health front.
