Falcons Coach Sparks Controversy, Targets Tight End Kyle Pitts
© Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

As NFL teams begin their offseason practices and workouts, players and coaches have provided insight into what can be expected from them for the 2025 season.

The Atlanta Falcons have been an extremely young team, but they have plenty of young talent to turn the team around.

In a playoff drought since 2017, second-year quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and the Falcons will look to change the environment in Atlanta.

They finished with an 8-9 record in 2024 and faced a quarterback situation that led to the benching of quarterback Kirk Cousins after playing inconsistently in his first year on the team.

It was a tough scenario for Cousins as he was returning from an Achilles injury he sustained in 2023 and the Falcons kept the pressure on him when drafting Michael Penix Jr. with their first-round pick in last year's draft.

With all this being said, the Falcons are still filled with lingering questions that have yet to be answered.

Falcons' Zac Robinson comments on Kyle Pitts' effort

The 2025 season will bring another season full of uncertainty for the Atlanta Falcons.

With a new quarterback and a ton of young players surrounding him, one problem that will need to be fixed is the production of tight end Kyle Pitts.

Pitts is heading into his fifth season in the NFL after being drafted fourth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.

As time has passed, Pitts' production has gone down since providing his only 1,000-yard receiving season in 2021, and some concerning comments have been made by offensive coordinator Zac Robinson.

"The thing we've always talked about with Kyle [Pitts] is just play fast... Ultimately, just play fast no matter what, and that's what we'll coach him up on," Robinson said on Wednesday.

Comments like these can be concerning for the Falcons, as Pitts' production has been underwhelming in recent years.

As the offseason progresses, the Falcons will need to address concerns surrounding their tight end's performance. It's a situation worth monitoring heading into the new season.
