Atlanta Falcons Swiss-Army-Knife option Cordarrelle Patterson has become a fantasy football icon during what has to be considered the best season, to date, of his NFL career. Per ESPN stats, Patterson has thus far accumulated a team-best 268 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground, 32 catches for 333 yards and a club-high five scores, and 267 yards on kickoff returns. He also recorded a pass attempt on Oct. 10.
Patterson recently told Kris Rhim of the club's website that his mother has inspired him to offer his services to the Falcons wherever they need him this fall.
"If my mom could go out there and work three jobs, I can go out there and play three positions," Patterson explained. "Why can't I do what she did for us? It's like a big motivation, and every time I'm on the field, I don't care where they put me; I'm gonna make a play. You can put me at safety; I'm getting an interception. You put me at D-End, Ima get a sack. That's just the mindset that I have, and nobody can take that confidence away from me."
Patterson added that becoming a "fan-favorite" was one of his objectives when he joined the Falcons this past spring.
"I'm gonna go win your fans over, so when it's time for a contract, you know I got the fans on my side," he said through a laugh. "So that's just one thing I do, I gotta get all the fans, man, get them in line, and they're gonna vouch for me at the end of the year."
Patterson's contributions haven't yet taken the Falcons to a winning record this season, but he also can't be blamed for the team's 3-4 mark ahead of Sunday's game at the New Orleans Saints.
