Falcons Defensive Coordinator Tasked With Piecing The Puzzle On Defense Has Raheem Morris' Full Support
USA TODAY Sports

Putting together a whole new defense in Atlanta seems like an insurmountable task for Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich. But he has full support from his staff, including high praise from head coach Raheem Morris.

"They've done a nice job of getting it going," Morris said of Ulbrich's defense. "The detail, the effort, the discipline that Jeff has brought to our defense, the leadership that he's brought us has been absolutely outstanding. It's been on display all offseason.”

Morris and Ulbrich have a history together, but putting together a unit on the football field and having them develop the camaraderie, chemistry, and banter needed to gel this team is a tall task. Especially when the defense has been under the microscope of fans and league officials alike for its subpar performance for the better part of seven years.

Morris also spoke highly of how Morris is a natural at blending all of the talent and finding the idea of a starting eleven throughout OTAs and camp thus far, “Getting a chance to really watch him bond with these new players that he has on this team, to be able to get the new guys that we've been able to add to the older guys that we've already had. To watch these guys go out there and get it done really fires me up and is really exciting.”

The Atlanta Falcons must emerge from the basement dwellings of all major statistical categories regarding defense. Ulbrich wants to implement a more aggressive nature of play and will take the summer to create the perfect unit on defense.
