Falcons former second-round pick dealt another bad hand

Davidson has yet to really establish himself after being selected in the second round a few years ago. The Auburn product has dealt with injuries throughout his career, specifically his rookie season, which was the tumultuous season in 2020 that saw Dan Quinn fired after an 0-5 start.

2021 was Davidson’s first normal season, resulting in a career-high 270 snaps, but Ta’Quon Graham outplayed the former Tiger in many aspects. At this point, Davidson has been a disappointment, and this season will be one of his last chances to stick with the Falcons, which looks like it’ll be an uphill battle.

In 19 games over the last two seasons, Davidson totaled a measly 29 tackles, 1.0 TFL, and 1.0 sacks in just 402 snaps. He’s been a reserve-caliber player for his entire career but was in line for a more significant role this season. The latest injury doesn’t seal his fate, but if the Falcons place him on the injured reserve, it’ll end his season and likely his time in Atlanta. The Falcons might have to look to free agency to add to the defensive line because it’s incredibly thin with the loss of Davidson.
