Atlanta Falcons kicker Parker Romo stayed cool under pressure during his team’s win Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings. However, he failed to remain clutch during his postgame interview.
Romo, whom the Falcons had just elevated from the practice squad earlier in the week, was one of the heroes in Atlanta’s 22-6 win over the Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn. The 28-year-old kicker went 5/5 on his field goal tries, including a 54-yarder that gave the Falcons a 15-6 lead early in the fourth quarter.

He is 5/5 on the night in his debut with the #Falcons, including this 54 yarder.

Romo was one of three players the NBC broadcast chose to interview after the contest. Sideline reporter Melissa Stark hilariously blindsided Romo with a pop quiz on his two teammates. He knew Bijan Robinson’s name, but drew blanks when it came to linebacker Leonard Floyd.
Stark hilariously introduced the two to one another, as if they were a couple of strangers at a house party.
This is hilarious: The #Falcons just signed K John Parker Romo last week and he went 5/5 on FGs and was named Player of the Game alongside Leonard Floyd.

One problem: He had no idea who Leonard Floyd was.

Romo stepped in to replace longtime Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo after the latter missed a game-tying field goal attempt in the dying seconds of Atlanta’s Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Koo was a healthy scratch for Sunday’s game.
Koo remains on the Falcons’ 53-man roster. But Romo’s performance in Week 2 may nudge the Falcons to stick with the fresh face for the time being.
Given the dozens of teammates on an NFL roster, remembering everyone’s names doesn’t get any easier. Just ask Buffalo Bills kicker Matt Prater, who got confused for a coach when he first signed with the Bills.
