The legal tampering period begins in less than two hours, and the league is buzzing. The Falcons and their cornerstone left tackle, Jake Matthews, have agreed on a three-year contract extension, according to Ian Rapoport.

With his original deal set to expire following the 2023 season, the Falcons lock up Matt Ryan’s blindside for what could be the rest of his career, depending on his health. This move creates some much-needed cap space for the Falcons and gives Matthews the reassurance he’s in the team’s future plans. The only other contracts the Falcons can adjust and create considerable cap space are Deion Jones and Grady Jarrett. A pay cut for the former and an extension for the latter seems in order.
