Falcons place JD Bertrand on Injured Reserve

The Falcons may have released an initial 53-man roster on Sunday, but there are a ton of moving pieces still coming together as they prepare for Week 1.

That process continued Monday, with Atlanta picking up three players via the waiver wire. To make room, the Falcons had to waive three of their own — the most surprising being 2023 third-round pick Zach Harrison, who recorded 4.5 sacks in just seven games last season before going down with injury.

Atlanta also placed third-year linebacker JD Bertrand on IR, replacing him on the roster with linebacker Josh Woods.

This is why it’s important not to overreact. Plenty of people wondered why JD Bertrand made the roster over several players who impressed during the preseason. Now he’s on Injured Reserve, guaranteed to miss at least four games.

The addition of Josh Woods to the active roster also opens another spot on the Falcons’ practice squad, which currently sits at 14. Each team is allowed 16, so look for some additions in the coming days.
