Falcons reportedly upset about Shannon Sharpe's live phone call to Julio Jones

Shannon Sharpe wanted to get to the bottom of the Julio Jones situation on Monday, so he called the Falcons star wide receiver live on FS1's "Undisputed" and asked him if he wanted to be traded to the Dallas Cowboys or remain in Atlanta.

Jones responded, "I'm out of there."

It appeared Jones didn't know he was on live television, and Sharpe didn't say anything about being on the air until the end of the call. Now, the entire situation has become a mess for Fox.

According to Michael McCarthy and A.J. Perez of Front Office Sports, the Falcons are upset with the situation because they believe the interview "undercut their negotiating position" as they try to trade the star wide receiver to another club.

Fox could end up "in the doghouse" due to the situation. McCarthy and Perez say the company could receive less cooperation from the Falcons and other NFL clubs, and Fox could get poor game matchups in the future.

Sharpe and Fox could also face legal trouble, though that seems unlikely.

It's unclear how negotiations between the Falcons and other clubs will go at this point. Jones wants out, and Atlanta needs to clear cap space to sign its draft picks. It appears the Falcons don't have much leverage in the situation, but if multiple teams are interested in Jones, they should be able to move him for a reasonable price.

According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Falcons were seeking a first-round pick for Jones ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft, but now they might be willing to settle for a second-round pick.

Jones reportedly has his eyes on the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans as destinations, Chris Simms recently said on "PFT Live," per Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio. The Patriots have reportedly had "internal discussions" about a trade for the star receiver. It's unclear if the Titans have done the same.
