Fans not happy Tom Brady's TB12 brand received $960K PPP loan

Tom Brady's TB12 brand, apparently, needed aid from the United States' Paycheck Protection Program due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

While it was initially reported over the summer that TB12 had received between $350,000 to $1 million, David Covucci of The Daily Dot reports that the brand ended up receiving $960,855.

This news was met with some harsh criticism from football fans. A number of people responded to Covucci's tweet saying some of their friends, who own small businesses, are struggling and still waiting for government aid. Others just flat out roasted Brady, like they normally do when anyone brings up the former New England Patriots signal-caller.

According to Dun & Bradstreet, which "provides sales leads and sales intelligence data on over 120 million companies," TB12 has 20 employees across all locations and has generated $3.23 million in sales in 2020.

Despite the outrage, TB12 was well within its rights to file for a PPP loan. According to sba.com, "Any single business entity (including hotels and restaurants) that is assigned an NAICS code beginning with 72 and employs no more than 500 employees per physical location is eligible to receive a PPP loan even if its affiliated companies have more than 500 employees."

Brady's TB12 brand currently has locations in Foxborough, right next to Gillette Stadium, Boston and Tampa Bay. The six-time Super Bowl champion had plans to expand his business to other locations across the country, but the pandemic put a knife in those plans.

Brady brought his TB12 brand to Tampa this year after signing a two-year, $50 million deal with the Buccaneers this offseason.
