While each of these players has shown flashes of fantasy greatness, their recent play is cause for concern. Don’t let them bring down your Week 11 roster.
Rome Odunze (WR), Chicago Bears
Surely, better days are ahead for the Bears rookie, but from a fantasy perspective, it’s time to move on. Odunze’s best game came in Week 3 when he scored 23.4 fantasy points with six catches, 112 yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately, that score would be his last, and aside from a 104-yard performance in Week 9, he’s scored nine or fewer fantasy points in every game since.
Of course, Chicago’s rookie quarterback hasn’t done Odunze any favors lately. After three strong performances against the Rams, Panthers and Jaguars, Caleb Williams has completed just 50 percent of passes over the past three games and hasn’t thrown a touchdown since Week 6.
To remedy the situation, the Bears fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron and replaced him with passing game coordinator Thomas Brown. Whether Brown can fix the team’s 30th-ranked passing offense remains to be seen, but in the meantime, fantasy managers can do much better than the NFL’s 46th-leading receiver.
Brian Thomas Jr. (WR), Jacksonville Jaguars
Like Odunze, Thomas has a bright future, but the next few games don't look so bright for Jacksonville’s talented rookie. While he leads Jaguars pass-catchers with 37 catches, 607 yards and five touchdowns, he could be catching passes from former Patriot Mac Jones moving forward.
Starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence missed last week’s game against the Vikings with a shoulder injury that may require surgery and could keep him out for the remainder of the year. With a 2-8 record and a new coaching staff likely for 2025, the Jaguars have no reason to put their $275M quarterback in harm’s way.
Jones went 14-of-22 for 111 yards with three sacks and a pair of interceptions in relief of Lawrence last week, while Thomas had two catches for 12 yards and a season-low 3.2 fantasy points.
This week, they’ll face the Lions, and while Detroit allows the second-most fantasy points to wide receivers this year, Thomas remains a risky play on the road this week.
Javonte Williams (RB), Denver Broncos
It seems like Broncos head coach Sean Payton wasn’t kidding when he said that running back Audric Estime could see more carries in the second half of the season. The rookie saw a team-high 14 carries in a 16-14 loss to the Chiefs last week, while Williams had one yard on one carry for 2.70 fantasy points.
Estime ran for just 53 yards, but the coach liked what he saw from the team’s fifth-round pick.
"I thought he ran well yesterday," Payton told reporters. "He’ll continue to get more reps."
Before Sunday, Williams was averaging 10.3 carries per game. He led the team in rushing with 774 yards last season and has a team-high 388 yards this year, but the Broncos want more than the 388 yards he’s given them this season.
