Fantasy fallers: Tread carefully with these three players in Week 6

Whether you’re on the road to your next fantasy championship or looking to get back on track, steer clear of these NFL players for Week 2.

Rome Odunze (WR) Chicago Bears

The second of Chicago’s two first-round picks in the 2024 NFL Draft broke out with six catches for 112 yards, a touchdown and 23.40 fantasy points in Week 3 but fell off in Weeks 4 and 5 with six catches, 50 yards and a total of 11.0 fantasy points. Odunze clearly has talent but with 42 targets, 294 yards and 75.2 fantasy points, DJ Moore remains quarterback Caleb Williams' favorite target.

This week, the Bears host a Jaguars team coming off a 37-34 win over the Colts in London. Fortunately for Chicago, no team has allowed more yards (287.8) or fantasy points per game (46.07) to wide receivers this year. While fantasy managers should see more points from Odunze this week, they should remember Keenan Allen saw six targets against the Panthers on Sunday after missing time with a heel injury. Until further notice, keep Chicago’s No. 3 receiver on your bench.

Deshaun Watson (QB) Cleveland Browns

If not for $92M in guaranteed salary though 2026, Watson would be on the bench, if not the waiver wire already. Since signing a five-year, $230M contract with Cleveland in 2022, the three-time Pro Bowler has appeared in just 17 games, winning nine, while throwing for 3,069 yards with 19 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

This year, Watson has five touchdowns and three interceptions while passing for 170.4 yards per game with a career-low 74.8 quarterback rating. He’s also been sacked a league-high 26 times. He was particularly bad last week, completing just 53.3% of his throws for 125 yards in a 34-13 loss to the Commanders while averaging 4.5 yards per pass.

This week he’ll face an Eagles defense allowing the sixth-most yards per game in 2024. Don’t be tempted. Philadelphia is coming off a bye and looking to make a statement after a Week 4 loss to the Buccaneers. Keep Watson and his 66.18 fantasy points buried on the waiver wire.

Emanuel Wilson (RB) Green Bay Packers

Wilson teased fantasy managers with 11.5 yards per carry against the Eagles in Week 1 and 85 all-purpose yards against the Titans in Week 3. Unfortunately, he’s had less than three fantasy points in each of his last two games, rushing for just 51 yards on 14 carries.

Meanwhile, lead back Josh Jacobs is fourth among running backs with 402 yards and has 90 carries to Wilson’s 35 attempts. He also has 30.1 more fantasy points. Unlike Watson, Wilson is worth a stash on your fantasy roster but should be nowhere near your starting lineup.
