Fantasy football has not seen a league-winning type player hit the waiver wire in quite some time. Despite this, there are still some intriguing options to add this week. These are the players that are worth a look entering week eight of the NFL season.
Noah Fant has become a great fantasy option for teams in need of a tight end after becoming a favorite target of Joe Flacco. He stepped into the starting role after Mike Gesicki suffered a recent injury, and he has taken full advantage of his opportunity. Fant should definitely be rostered, and his red zone work indicates he could be a high upside play each week.
Blake Corum has continued to see an uptick in opportunities throughout the season. He is one of the best backup running backs in the NFL, but he hasn’t been able to prove it behind Kyren Williams. This season has been different, as Corum has seen increased snaps. This was no different in London and may be the new normal. He may not be fantasy relevant as long as Williams is healthy, but Corum still deserves a look during waiver claims this week.
Brashard Smith is definitely someone to keep an eye on as the season progresses. He has taken over the pass-catching role out of the Kansas City Chiefs’ backfield, giving him a pathway to success in fantasy. The rushing game is still controlled by Isaiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt, but if they continue to fail to produce, Smith could see even more playing time. He is certainly worth a stash on the bench just based on the possibility he takes over as the lead back.
Jerome Ford has seen his fair share of snaps this season, but that is not the reason he is intriguing this week. The NFL trade deadline is looming, meaning it’s about time to look for players who could use a change of scenery. Ford is a veteran pass-catching back who any team in need of RB help would love to have. If he lands on the right team, he could instantly have fantasy value.
Kyle Monangai had quite a large hype train coming into the fantasy season as one of the more favorable stash RBs. It has taken some time, but his opportunity may have finally arrived. Monangai scored his first career touchdown on Sunday, while also getting the most touches in his career. Teammate D’Andre Swift also had a fantastic game on Sunday, which likely indicates no switch in the starting job, but it is still a situation to monitor.
Bam Knight peeked many fantasy managers interests last week after introducing himself into the Arizona Cardinals backfield committee. This week was much less of a split in carries; Knight dominated the touches. He seems to be the lead back until Trey Benson returns, and is certainly worth an addition to any fantasy roster.
Oronde Gadsden is becoming a regular on these lists , and this may be the last time he is available in a majority of fantasy leagues. He had a huge game on Sunday, making him what is likely to be the most attractive claim of the week. He has taken over as the starting tight end for the Los Angeles Chargers, and his fantasy value continues to skyrocket week after week.
Despite the lack of star power hitting the waiver wire recently, there are still players worthy of claims each week. These players are solid adds to keep your roster above the competition.
