Fantasy Football: Ranking the Top 10 QBs from 2025

The fantasy football season is over for the vast majority of us, so instead of the usual “Top 10 Quarterback Rankings” for Week 18, I’m going to go through a recap of the best 10 quarterback picks taken in this year’s fantasy drafts. I’m not talking about simply listing the top 10 scorers at the position, but rather a list of the top 10 draft picks from this year’s fantasy football drafts that helped us win our leagues.

Sorry to all of you Daniel Jones and Sam Darnold owners, but I can’t give a grade to a player who was taken on average as the 30th-32nd quarterback off the board. Think of what Bill Belichick said when reporters would ask him if he knew how great Tom Brady was going to be. His quote was basically, “If we knew he was going to be that good, do you think we would have passed over him with our 5th-round pick?” For this article, we are going to focus solely on players who were taken among the top 24 quarterbacks drafted (according to ESPN).

If you need to know who to start this week, my advice would be to check out our Week 18 quarterback rankings or just play any one of the quarterbacks that is projected to actually play a full game and has been playing for more than a few weeks. That means guys like Joe Burrow, Dak Prescott, Jaxson Dart, and Jared Goff would be my best bets for this week. If you don’t have them, the rest of the list would round out with players like Baker Mayfield, Tyler Shough, Bryce Young, Cam Ward and (gulp) Shadeur Sanders. Read that last sentence again to your league commissioner when you are telling him/her that playing in week 18 is silly. OK, without further ado, let’s take a look at the best 10 quarterback draft picks for 2025.

Top 10 Quarterback Rankings from the 2025 Fantasy Football Season

1) Drake Maye, Patriots

Grade A+ | Average Draft Position: 9th-10th Round | 15th

QB off the board. Hands down, this guy was a league winner. How do I know? Well, I lost in the finals of a high-stakes league, and my opponent was led by Maye and another name from this list that we will get to in a moment. Maye had an MVP-caliber season and finished as the QB2 overall in fantasy. Teams that waited on a QB were able to clean up this year by waiting as late as the 9th or 10th round to roster the second-year signal caller out of North Carolina. His numbers were driven by an impressive 465 rushing yards and 4 rushing TDs to go along with his stellar passing numbers. If you need him for this week, it’s doubtful that he plays more than a few drives against the Dolphins. I would look elsewhere.

2) Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars

Grade A+ | Average Draft Position: 12th-13th Round | 20th QB off the board

Yep, this was my opponent’s 2nd QB in my finals matchup. It took TLaw a few weeks to get going this year as he didn’t even crack the top 20 overall in three of his first four starts, but then things broke open in week 5 when he rushed for his first 2 scores of the year. We didn’t think much of it at the time since his career high coming into this season was 5 rushing scores back in his sophomore season, but he would go on to score 7 more times on the ground for a total of 9 times on the season. Considering he was drafted as a backup option in most leagues, it probably took some time for his owners to settle in on him as their every-week starter. He sits as the overall QB4 after week 17. If you need him in week 18, you can probably go ahead and play him. As of now, he is projected to start against the Titans and probably won’t sit until the game is in hand.

3) Josh Allen, Bills

Grade A | Average Draft Position: 2nd-3rd Round | 1st QB off the board.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen fires off a pass during first half action against the Baltimore Ravens at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park on Sept. 7, 2025.

Allen sits at third on this list even though he finished the fantasy season as the overall top-scoring player in all of fantasy. He was the perfect third-round pick, and he rewarded his owners handsomely when they decided not to get cute or play games with the most important position in the game. In all likelihood, Allen will cost you a 1st round pick next year, and I can’t argue with that. He lost a couple of points here for being drafted so highly, and for an unfortunate foot injury that affected his numbers in the fantasy playoffs. Right now, it’s 50/50 on whether or not he plays this week. I doubt he plays more than 2 series at most.

4) Dak Prescott, Cowboys

Grade A | Average Draft Position: 8th-9th Round | 12th QB off the board

Dak was a great pick. I am giving him the nod here over some other options for a couple of reasons. First of all, he was actually drafted to be a starter in most fantasy leagues. Owners who drafted him were wise enough to see that he was poised to have a big season for two very clear reasons. The addition of George Pickens and the subtraction of Micah Parsons. With an added dangerous weapon on offense and a weakened defense, it was pretty clear that if Dak stayed healthy, he was going to be amongst the league leaders in pass attempts, completions, passing yards, and touchdowns. When all was said and done, Dak led the league in the first three categories and finished 3rd in passing scores on his way to an overall QB5 finish. The bottom line is he was a great pick for any owner who waited on QB. The Cowboys haven’t been playing for anything for 2 weeks now, so Dak might be the best starter left for this Sunday if you need somebody.

5) Caleb Williams, Bears

Grade A | Average Draft Position: 8-9th Round | 13th QB off the board

Most fantasy players probably have no idea that this guy finished the season as the overall QB6 in total points scored and the QB8 in points per game. Yep, he managed to finish just ahead of Jalen Hurts in both categories as he flirted with becoming the first Bear to ever throw for 4,000 yards. I doubt Ben Johnson risks losing his quarterback to achieve a meaningless stat, as the Bears don’t stand to gain anything with a win, and Williams needs 270 yards to eclipse 4k, but he may start the game and stick around long enough to throw for 109 yards, which would make him the Bears’ all-time single-season passing yards leader. Williams, much like Prescott, was a fantastic pick for owners who waited for their quarterback.

6) Bo Nix, Broncos

Grade A- | Average Draft Position: 7-8th round | 7th QB off the board

Nix was highly targeted by fantasy owners after his breakout rookie season, and he paid off owners nicely at his draft position. He wasn’t quite the boondoggle that Williams or Prescott were, but he was far better than the other choices available that were being drafted at around the same spot in guys like Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray. Nix finished the fantasy season as the overall QB8 in a season that was filled with highs and lows. In 16 starts, he managed to finish as a top 10 option for the week 5 times while finishing outside of the top 18 another 5 times. He probably didn’t win you your league on his own, but he was a solid weekly option and a great pick for where he was taken.

7) Matthew Stafford, Rams

Grade B+ | Average Draft Position: 15th-16th Round | 25th QB off the board

If you rostered him, let’s just be honest for a quick moment. When you picked him, nobody yelled, “Great pick!” In fact, when you picked him, the majority of your league mates snickered a little as they thought you were just chasing a name you recognized rather than spending your draft pick wisely on somebody with more upside… like Bryce Young or Anthony Richardson. Stafford owners did get the last laugh, but I had to ding you here based on the draft position. In fact, Stafford doesn’t even qualify for this list based on my original criteria, but I had to let him slide after the season he just had. Way back in August, the vast majority of us weren’t just worried that Stafford would be an injury risk that would be a waste on our team if we drafted him, but we were also fading Puka Nacua by a few draft spots because of concerns over Stafford’s wonky back. He not only stayed healthy, but he had a career year after throwing 42 touchdown passes (a new career high) as well as his highest yardage total since 2021, good enough to finish the fantasy season as the overall QB3. Congratulations, nice work, I’m not calling you lucky, but……..

8) Justin Herbert, Chargers

Grade B+ | Average Draft Position: 8-9th Round | 11th QB off the board

Herbert was an A+ for the first half of this season, and then his offensive line fell apart. He was drafted as the 11th QB and finished the season as the QB11 in points per game and QB9 in total points scored. He ended up being just fine, but oh, what could have been? Through the first 9 games of the season, he was ranked well inside the top 10 as he was averaging well over 20 points per game. The streak culminated with three consecutive top 4 finishes between Weeks 7 and 9. Since Week 9, he has averaged just 14 fantasy points per game, leaving him outside of the top 20 overall. A perfect draft would have had you taking Herbert as your QB1 and then coming back a couple of rounds later and grabbing Tyler Lawrence (or grabbing Stafford or Jacoby Brissett off waivers). Either way, Herbert had enough good games in the early going to give his owners a solid baseline to build off of. Solid pick, just not a league winner on his own.

9) Jalen Hurts, Eagles

Grade B | Average Draft Position: 4th Round | 4th QB off the board

USA Today Sports

Hurts had a fine season. He finished our fantasy season as the overall QB7 in total points as well as the QB9 in points per game. If you drafted him, you made it a point to be aggressive and land an elite QB early, and you picked one of the right ones. The owners who pulled the trigger on Joe Burrow, Jayden Daniels, and Lamar Jackson weren’t quite so lucky. Hurts had a season that felt lacking, but he actually had more yards passing than last year and set a new career high in passing touchdowns with 25 this season. What was lacking were the rush attempts and the rushing scores from previous seasons, as he failed to top 10 touchdowns on the ground for the first time since his rookie season. While his tush may not have been pushed as much as we were hoping, he still had a solid year.

10) Brock Purdy, 49ers

Grade B | Average Draft Position: 8th round | 10th QB off the board

Sure, he only played in 8 games, but his 21.5 fantasy points per game ranked behind only Josh Allen for best in the league. In fact, if you somehow made it to the fantasy playoffs with Brock on your roster, he very well may have won you your league with weekly finishes of QB4, QB1, and QB1 over the 3 weeks of the fantasy playoffs. If you drafted Purdy, you took him over Dak Prescott and some other decent options like Jared Goff, and you most likely drafted a solid backup. If you double-tapped QB in the 8th/9th round, you very well could have come away with Herbert and Purd,y which would have been a practically perfect duo for this season.

Hopefully, you have enjoyed this fantasy football season as much as I have. Happy New Year, enjoy the playoffs!
