Fantasy football lineups are thin in Week 8 with six teams on bye, but you still need to be selective with your roster. With that in mind, here are five players who could fall short of their projections this week.
We don't know yet who will be under center for San Francisco in Week 8, but whoever gets the nod might be better off on your bench. The Texans have given up the fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season. They also rank first in points allowed per game (14.7) and dropback EPA per play (-0.150).
Hubbard returned to the field last week and got the start over RB Rico Dowdle, but it was clear who deserves to lead this backfield. Dowdle rushed 17 times for 79 yards, while Hubbard managed only 31 yards on 14 carries. This came after Dowdle put up 473 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns in two games without Hubbard. Don't be surprised if Hubbard's workload decreases in Week 8.
Croskey-Merritt has averaged just 3.1 yards per carry over his last two games, and that probably won't improve in a road matchup against the Chiefs. KC has limited Ashton Jeanty to six carries for 21 yards, Jahmyr Gibbs to 17 carries for 65 yards, Travis Etienne to 12 carries for 49 yards and Derrick Henry to eight carries for 42 yards

You're never benching Lamb, but maybe temper expectations in what will be his toughest matchup of the season. Star cornerback Patrick Surtain II has shut down WR1s all season — most notably Garrett Wilson (three catches, 13 yards), A.J. Brown (five catches, 43 yards), Ja'Marr Chase (five catches, 23 yards) and Michael Pittman Jr. (four catches, 40 yards). Lamb could flop if he doesn't find the end zone this week.
Ertz has been one of the best fantasy TEs in the NFL with QB Jayden Daniels under center, but everything changes when Marcus Mariota takes over. In Mariota's two starts this season, Ertz recorded only five catches for 59 yards and no touchdowns. Mariota spreads the ball around too much, limiting Ertz's upside and lowering his floor.
