First look: Titans unveil images of proposed high-tech, multi-function stadium

This monstrosity of a stadium is expected to cost $2.1 billion and cover all of 1.7 million square feet. The stadium will hold 60,000 cheering football fans on a Sunday, about 10K less than the current Nissan Stadium, but the complex is going to be built with the purpose of serving multiple functions all year long. 

“We envision a potential new stadium that makes our community proud and enhances the reputation of our great city and state,” said Titans president and CEO Burke Nihill. “We’re focused on designing a stadium capable of hosting a prestigious international event on a Sunday and a steady flow of impactful community programming later that same week. This is a building that would serve Nashville and Tennessee for generations.”

The proposed structure, developed by local architecture firm MANICA, has a lot to offer: outdoor terraces with a view of Nashville, a transparent roof that will allow better experiences and the potential to host the Super Bowl in the winter months, sustainable material used throughout, and a 12,000-square-foot community specifically designed for holding educational events, just to name a few. 

Although many believe the current NFL rule states that stadiums must hold 70,000 fans in order to host the Super Bowl, multiple reports show that the league has assured Nashville that it will be an exception to the rule and should have no issue hosting the big game in the near future. 

"A number of factors are considered when selecting a Super Bowl host including: stadium quality, local venues and hotels, participating team experience, vision for fan activities and more," the league said in a statement. "There is no minimum stadium capacity that preludes a stadium from hosting a Super Bowl, America's most-watched event."
