Five Chicago Bears players off to a fast start in training camp following the first five days of practice

The Chicago Bears have completed five full days of practice at training camp with Monday's session being the first day with full pads.

Already we've seen a few notable players standout on both sides of the ball and continue to turn heads throughout multiple practice sessions.

Here are five players who have gotten off to a fast start during training camp so far.

JP Richardson

The highlight player during the first week of training camp was easily wide receiver JP Richardson, the undrafted rookie out of TCU who's starting to make a real name for himself.

Richardson had two highlight worthy catches during the first day of practice, including a one-handed snag down the sideline. Over the next few days, Richardson continued developing a connection with quarterback Tyson Bagent that will be even more fun to see during preseason action.

As a UDFA, Richardson is doing everything he needs to be doing to potentially earn a final roster spot, or at the very least land on the practice squad.

"He's done a really good job of coming in and learning it," offensive coordinator Declan Doyle explained. "He's an athletic guy, he has a little bit of twitch to him in the route tree. Obviously, through the first three days [it was] fun to see."

Nahshon Wright

On the defensive side of the ball, veteran cornerback Nahshon Wright was a routine standout playing in place of an injured Jaylon Johnson. Wright worked with the first-team defense on the outside each day and his knowledge of the scheme is evident given his history with DBs coach Al Harris.

"He's been ballin'," veteran safety Kevin Byard said of Wright. "He got a lot of turnovers in the spring. I got full trust in him. He's been a veteran, he's been with [Al Harris] in Dallas. So, he already kinda knows the defense, knows the techniques, and the things that Al wants to get accomplished. He's already coaching some of the younger guys up on the sidelines. . . I really like what I've seen from him."

That certainly sounds like the kind of player that can easily find his way onto the field. We'll see how his role shakes out amongst the rest of the CBs once Jaylon Johnson recovers from his leg injury.

Colston Loveland

For the first time since being drafted with the 10th overall pick back in April's draft, we finally got to see tight end Colston Loveland on the field working with the entire offense on Saturday.

Loveland's full availability continued on Monday during the first day with pads catching passes from all three quarterbacks.

He even had a highlight grab on Monday where he went up to snag a ball and seemed to impress working in the middle of the field. He already seems to be everything the Bears imagined when selecting him with the team's top pick in the draft.

Jaquan Brisker

Having Jaquan Brisker out there on the field is always a comforting sign and it's evident how different the energy level gets when he's out there for the other 10 players on the defense.

"Energy," Byard explained. "We all know he's an energy guy. We start practice out and he's screaming, that's just kinda how he is. He just has this certain aura and energy that I love about him. He's going to bring the juice. He's a heck of a football player, let's not get it twisted."

Brisker doesn't plan to change is style at all following a third concussion in three years and was out there during camp without a guardian protective cap on his helmet. In the meantime, he's been making plays on the ball and even more on the way with pads starting to come on.

Theo Benedet

The 2024 UDFA offensive tackle had a strong camp outing last year as well before suffering a hamstring injury in the Hall of Fame Game that ended his hopes of shining during the preseason.

The "Canadian Eagle" spent his entire rookie campaign on the practice squad and never got called up despite all the injuries the offense was forced to deal with up-front. Now, Benedet has a new staff to impress on the practice field.

Already the second-year player is climbing the depth chart after taking the majority of first-team reps at right tackle on Saturday while Darnell Wright was held out of practice for a rest day. Granted three other tackles were competing on the left side, so don't look too much into Benedet's usage during that one day unless he can put some solid stuff on tape during the preseason this time around.
