The Philadelphia Eagles have five players who were named to the NFL’s initial Pro Bowl roster. Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Zack Baun, Jalen Carter, and Cam Jurgens all received the honor. Although five players are nothing to scoff at, some Eagles were definitely snubbed from the roster.

Defensive Pro Bowlers

The Eagles had a staggering four defensive players make the initial Pro Bowl roster, and arguably should have had more. The Eagles’ dynamic, young cornerback duo of Mitchell and DeJean received Pro Bowl honors for the first time in their career. Both of these players are just in their second year in the NFL. The Eagles’ 2024 draft class, which included these two as their first picks, is shaping up to be one of the best in Eagles history and one of Howie Roseman’s biggest accomplishments. After years of subpar cornerback play, Mitchell and DeJean have brought stability to a position the Eagles desperately needed. Both Mitchell and DeJean should expect to be recognized as All-Pro players this season, too. Baun was named to the roster for the second time, both coming as an Eagle. He has continued to be one of the game’s top inside linebackers since coming to Philadelphia. Since being inserted into Vic Fangio’s defense, it has been a match made in heaven. Similar to cornerback, the Eagles dealt with poor linebacker play for many years. Having Baun has made that a thing of the past. Baun should also expect to hear his name called as an All-Pro linebacker this season.

Jordan Davis: Snubbed?

Along the Eagles’ defensive line is where some controversy arises. The lone Pro Bowler from the defensive line is defensive tackle Jalen Carter. When healthy, Carter is still one of the best interior defensive linemen in football. The issue, though, is that Carter has dealt with nagging injuries all season. While he is definitely deserving of this honor, many were expecting to see Jordan Davis on the Pro Bowl roster instead of Carter. Davis is having a career year with the Eagles. With two games remaining, Davis already has a career high in sacks (4.5) and tackles for loss (9). Davis has made splash plays, like blocking the Rams‘ potential game-winning kick and returning it for a touchdown in Week 3. For a player who took such a leap forward this season, it is disappointing to see him not acknowledged with this honor.

Offensive Pro Bowler

The Philadelphia Eagles only had one Pro Bowl player on offense, and that is center Cam Jurgens. This is his second nomination to the roster, as he made it in 2024 as well. Seeing Jurgens make the roster was a little bit surprising. Given the struggles of the Eagles’ offense this season, not many expected offensive players to be recognized. Jurgens has had an up-and-down season, but the Eagles are still fortunate to have one of the game’s best centers. Like previously mentioned, the Eagles did not have many candidates to make the Pro Bowl roster on offense. Players who could be named as replacements, though, could be Dallas Goedert, Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts, and A.J. Brown. These are all still elite players, and while they may not be having their best statistical season, are among the league’s best at their positions. Hopefully, the Philadelphia Eagles will not have anyone playing in the Pro Bowl, though, as they focus on the only Bowl that really matters.
