The Philadelphia Eagles get their preseason underway on Thursday night with a home game against the Cincinnati Bengals at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Although most of the starters won't suit up in the opener, there will be several key position battles to keep an eye on Thursday.
One of the most pleasant surprises in training camp has been Campbell, who is already practicing with the first team after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery. The rookie out of Alabama slipped to the 31st pick in the 2025 NFL Draft due to his injury uncertainty, but he's ahead of schedule in his recovery and on track to play in Week 1.

Campbell still needs to test his shoulder in live action. If he suits up on Thursday night, it would be an encouraging sign for a player who could start right away.
Quinyon Mitchell is locked in as the No. 1 cornerback on Philadelphia's defense. However, the CB2 spot is up for grabs after veteran Darius Slay joined the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency. Ringo is the presumed favorite to win the job, but the Eagles don't have complete faith in him. If they did, they wouldn't have traded DT Thomas Booker for CB Jakorian Bennett ahead of the preseason opener.
The Bengals are expected to play their starters in the first quarter, so Ringo has a great chance to make a statement going up against wideouts Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
Speaking of the Booker trade, sending a defensive tackle to the Las Vegas Raiders is likely a sign that the Eagles love what Hall has been doing in camp. The fourth DT spot behind Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and Moro Ojomo is up for grabs, and Hall's performance in the preseason will determine how many snaps he sees on Sundays.
Cooper, an undrafted free agent out of Tarleton State, has been making flashy plays and impressing coaches early on in training camp. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound wide receiver put up a whopping 1,449 yards and 14 touchdowns in his final collegiate season.
Cooper has a long way to go to make the 53-man roster, but a strong performance on Thursday night will only help his chances.
McCord is battling with Dorian Thompson-Robinson for the QB3 spot behind Jalen Hurts and Tanner McKee. The Eagles would rather have a younger player fill that spot, but McCord has to prove he has what it takes to succeed at this level first.
The Ohio State and Syracuse product led the country with 4,779 passing yards last year as a senior, but going from ACC defenses to NFL competition won't be an easy jump to make.
