It's no secret the Los Angeles Rams feature a plethora of weapons. Including highly anticipated newcomers Davante Adams and rookie Terrance Ferguson.
But one forgotten past starter pulled off the most epic highlight move of Sunday.
Tight end Davis Allen jumped to the air during a team 11-on-11 drill. He extended out his left hand while twirling in the air. He miraculously hauled the ball in -- as captured by the Rams' social media team . Team reporters Wyatt Miller and Stu Jackson called it the play of the day.
"Running straight down the seam, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo floated a pass to Allen's back shoulder. He adjusted and grabbed the ball with one hand and jogged into the end zone for a touchdown. The sideline erupted," Jackson wrote.
Allen arrived to the Rams via the 2023 NFL Draft. He landed in the fifth round of that class and at 175th overall. Allen eventually started in one game his rookie season. He caught 10 passes for 95 yards and scored one touchdown.
But he earned multiple starts in 2024. The 6-foot-6, 251-pounder cracked the starting rotation in five games. He went on to grab six catches for 39 yards.
The Rams trusted him more for blocking. Even on passing situations. He earned pass blocking grades of 70 or higher by Pro Football Focus in five games. Allen lined up on 237 plays as an "inside" tight end.
Now Allen's playing status is on the bubble. Ferguson is drawing rave reviews for the athleticism he's bringing at TE. Los Angeles drafted him in the second round of April's draft. Longtime veteran Tyler Higbee remains here too as he enters his 10th league season.
But Allen sparked new excitement on the final practice day at Loyola Marymount University.
