Former 3rd Round Pick Making Impact in Colts Camp
USA TODAY Sports

Defensive Tackle McTelvin Agim was a third round pick by the Denver Broncos in the 2020 NFL Draft. He rarely saw the field in two seasons with the team, logging just 231 total snaps across the combined years. He was subsequently waived from the team in 2022, and found his way to the Indianapolis Colts in December of last year.

After signing a futures deal with the Colts following the season, Agim set out to prove that he still is that same high upside player that went in the top 100 several years ago. Through a little over a week of practices with the team, Agim has slowly ascended up the Colts' depth chart.

The 25 year old defensive tackle has consistently made plays with the second and third team defense so far, and that strong play has led to some chances with the first team defense in recent days. Star defender DeForest Buckner left yesterday's practice with an ankle injury and it was Agim, not free agent signing Taven Bryan or 2022 draft pick Eric Johnson, that replaced his spot with the starters.

Horseshoe Huddle's beat reporter Jake Arthur had this to say about Agim on a recent episode of Locked on Colts:

(McTelvin Agim) is a guy that I've talked a lot about in my camp notes and on here. He has just been really steady as both a run defender and as an interior pass rusher. It's really no surprise that he was out there with the starters at this point.

Agim is a former five star recruit out of high school that put together a pretty solid collegiate career with Arkansas. In the pre-draft process, Agim impressed scouts with a 4.98 forty yard dash along with putting up 27 reps of 225 on the bench press.

He is coming into just his fourth season in the NFL after spending a majority of last year on the Colts/Broncos practice squads. He has yet to live up to the standards of being a top 100 pick, but there is still potential in his game to become a dependable role player in the league.

McTelvin Agim is far from a roster lock at this point in the offseason, but he is doing everything he can to get his name out there early into training camp. If the Colts can tap into just a little of that former top 100 pick potential, they just may have found a strong rotational tackle for this upcoming season.
