A former Alabama Crimson Tide All-Pro was at the center of the biggest NFL trade of the offseason this week. The Miami Dolphins re-acquired safety Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Pittsburgh Steelers almost six years after initially moving him for a first-round pick.
In return, the Dolphins gave up cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith. A couple of late-round 2027 draft picks were also swapped. This historic trade was one of the most dynamic ones in recent NFL history since two players were involved.

Minkah was the 11th overall pick by the Dolphins in the 2018 NFL Draft. He's a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro. There's been some hand-wringing about his coverage declining in 2024, but he's capable of putting together a Hall of Fame case if he can continue producing at a high level.
With 608 tackles, 20 interceptions, 54 pass breakups, and five forced fumbles, Fitzpatrick has been an elite presence. Turning 29 this fall, he'll be angling for a new contract after this fall when his guaranteed money runs dry.
His career at Alabama was spectacular. A two-time All-American and three-year starter, Fitzpatrick was the perfect fit for Nick Saban. He racked up 171 tackles, nine interceptions, 26 pass breakups, and two National Titles.
