Former Alabama running back Brian Robinson has signed a one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Robinson will serve as the new backup running back to Bijan Robinson after the franchise lost Tyler Allgeier to the Arizona Cardinals.

Robinson spent last season with the San Francisco 49ers who acquired him via trade in August to provide depth behind Christian McCaffery after the franchise saw multiple injuries to other reserve backs.

In his one season with the franchise Robinson played sparingly as he finished the year with 92 attempts for 400 yards and two touchdowns which were all career lows.

Robinson originally entered in the league back in 2022 with the Washington Commanders who selected him in the third round of the NFL Draft. In his three seasons in Washington, Robinson was a solid contributor out of the backfield rushing for a total of 2,729 yards and 17 touchdowns while averaging 4.1 yards per carry during the stint.

Before entering the NFL, Robinson played five seasons at Alabama under Nick Saban where he spent a majority of his career as a reserve option behind the likes of Damien Harris, Josh Jacobs and Najee Harris. But his senior season is where Robinson showed the country what he was capable of as he rushed for 1,343 yards and 14 touchdowns while catching 35 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns. These efforts resulted in him being named to the First-team All-SEC and helped the Crimson Tide reach the national championship game where it ultimately fell to Georgia.

Across his college career, Robinson was a part of two national title wins in 2017 and 2020.
