Transitioning to the NFL can be difficult, but former Wisconsin Badgers star running back Braelon Allen is impacting his new team. The New York Jets rookie was taken in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft and settled in as a backup to star Breece Hall.

However, on Sunday, Allen became the youngest player to do one specific thing since 1930. We explore how NFL Week 2 was a historic moment for him.

Braelon Allen Scores First NFL Touchdown

Allen, who played in 35 games across his three-year career at Wisconsin, was a dominant presence in college. He finished with 3,494 yards and averaged 5.85 yards per carry. A down 2023 season made him slip beyond where most evaluators had thought prior to the year, but Allen remained intriguing because of his blend of size and speed.

On Sunday, Allen became the youngest player to score a touchdown in the NFL since Red Dunn threw a 15-yard touchdown to Arnie Herbert. Allen was 20 years and 239 days of age on Sunday, which is the same age as Herber was.

Allen finished Week 2 with seven carries for 33 yards. Here's his 20-yard touchdown run, which ended up being the game-winner.

Allen's journey to prominence began in high school, where he played for Fond du Lac High School. His exceptional performances there earned him a reputation as one of the nation's top high school running backs. His ability to break tackles and gain yards after contact was a testament to his strength and determination.

He joined the University of Wisconsin in 2021, and his impact was immediate. As a freshman, Allen made headlines by becoming one of the youngest players to lead his team in rushing yards. His debut season showcased his potential, as he accumulated impressive statistics and demonstrated his capability to be a central figure in Wisconsin’s offense.

Allen’s playing style is characterized by his powerful running and ability to accelerate through gaps in the defense. His contribution was crucial for the Badgers' rushing attack and his role in balancing the offensive game plan.
