Dallas Cowboys fans will forever wish Travis Frederick had played just a little more football. But next week, he'll get to be a part of the team's 2025 NFL Draft in a unique way.
Per an NFL release, Frederick will be the lone former Cowboys player announcing a pick in Green Bay during Day 2 of the Draft.
Frederick, who was born in Wisconsin and played for the Wisconsin Badgers in college, will be right at home when announcing a future member of the Cowboys, with whom he played from 2013 to 2019.
Watching Frederick will be a welcome sight for fans as he quickly became one of Cowboys Nation's favorites. The former center earned three All-Pro honors in his first four years in the league and he would've likely punched his ticket to Canton, Ohio's Pro Football Hall of Fame had it not been for a shortened career.
Frederick would've likely stayed at the top of the game like his recently retired former teammates Tyron Smith and Zack Martin. His battle with Guillain-Barré syndrome kept him from continuing playing because it admittedly kept him from playing at his best.
"Playing 'well' is not what I expect of myself and is not what my teammates deserve," Frederick wrote in his retirement statement in 2020.
When he takes the podium to announce one of the Cowboys' two scheduled picks for Round 2 and 3 of the NFL Draft, fans might wonder as they often do about what could've been. But it will be great to watch him involved with the team in such an important day of the year.
