The Kansas City Chiefs remained without their starting left tackle in Week 7's dominant win over the Las Vegas Raiders , but they're in better hands with Jaylon Moore than some might realize. A simple mistake from a former All-Pro left tackle made that abundantly clear on Sunday.
During the course of the 31-0 win over, former Green Bay Packers LT David Bakhtiari took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts on the offensive tackle play he was witnessing from Kansas City. His comments appeared to be directed at the No. 32 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Chiefs rookie LT Josh Simmons.
"The Chiefs got a promising young LT," Bakhtiari wrote on X during the Week 7 win over the Raiders. "He's gonna be good."
The @Chiefs got a promising young LT. He’s gonna be good.

The 11-year NFL veteran is totally right about that statement, but there is one glaring problem with it. Simmons didn't play in Week 7, sitting out for the second consecutive week due to personal reasons. Jaylon Moore was actually the young and promising left tackle that Bakhtiari was watching on Sunday, whose play prompted the comment.
Moore is still just 27 years old, so not exactly ancient by NFL standards, but he's also a fifth-year veteran in the NFL. He should probably look better than a rookie, but it's also good to know that a two-time First-Team All-Pro who protected Aaron Rodgers for the bulk of his career thinks so highly of the Chiefs' backup left tackle.
The latest update from Chiefs HC Andy Reid on the situation surrounding Josh Simmons was more of the same. Speaking to the media on Monday, he reiterated his previous comments about Simmons' absence.
"As far as Josh (Simmons) goes, I don’t have any updates for you," Reid said. "(General Manager Brett) Veach is handling everything there. We’ll just move on with that."
The Chiefs' coaching staff doesn't have time to fixate on Simmons' absence, but Jaylon Moore is making it easy to keep it out of mind. A quick comparison of the two players in their respective starts shows very comparable production in the passing game.
So long as Moore is in the picture, the Chiefs' offense seems no worse for wear without Simmons. It further proves that Brett Veach's process at left tackle this offseason was the right one. However, knowing that Wanya Morris is the team's new swing tackle, Chiefs Kingdom will hope for Simmons' quick return, regardless of Moore's promising play.
