Morrow saw increased usage during his lone season in Chicago.
After spending one season with the Chicago Bears, linebacker Nicholas Morrow will take his talents east in 2023. The Philadelphia Eagles signed Morrow to a one-year deal on Tuesday.
After the Bears traded Roquan Smith in the middle of the 2022 campaign, Morrow was counted on to elevate his play. He finished the season with 116 tackles (83 solo) and 11 tackles in 17 games (all starts), which represented a major leap for his career numbers. The Alabama native also recorded one interception during his time in Chicago.
The Bears brought Morrow in as a filler last year when Ryan Poles took the reins as general manager. Morrow was never necessarily in Chicago's long-term plans, which was made clear during the first week of 2023 free agency when Poles signed linebackers Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards . Matt Eberflus now has two players that fit his scheme and are here on fairly priced, longer-term deals.
As for Nicholas Morrow, he joins an Eagles team that made it to the Super Bowl last season and figures to be a force in the NFC once again. The 27-year-old will likely assume more of a depth role in Philadelphia, but the experience he gained in Chicago should prepare him for whatever lies ahead.
