The New York Jets have officially turned a new leaf, welcoming former Chicago Bear and Pittsburgh Steeler, Justin Fields, with a two-year, $40 million contract . This move comes after a less-than-stellar season with Aaron Rodgers at the helm and signifies a fresh direction for the franchise under the guidance of new coach Aaron Glenn. Fields is guaranteed $30 million from the total $40 million of the contract.

The #Jets are signing QB Justin Fields, per me and @TomPelissero, as Gang Green gets a new starter. Fields says goodbye to Pittsburgh after 1 year.

Fields started the first six games for the Steelers last season, accumulating a 4-2 record over that time. However, Mike Tomlin and company still opted to go with the veteran Russell Wilson down the stretch. The team made the playoffs, but saw a quick end to their Super Bowl hopes.
With speculation that Fields wasn't guaranteed the job if he returned, the former Bear inks a huge deal with the Jets. Not only is the money good, but so is the opportunity. The Jets have a strong defense, weapons on offense, and the pieces to be a contender in the AFC. Now, Fields will get a chance to be the guy in New York.
Second opportunities are hard to come by in the NFL, so this opportunity for Fields is quite the chance to prove himself. Despite his departure from Chicago, many fans still love and root for Fields. Entering his new situation, there will surely be a large contingent from the Windy City that is rooting for his success. Perhaps reuniting with Garrett Wilson after their days together at Ohio State may help in his career resurrection.
