Former Bears WR Byron Pringle Signs with the Commanders
Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Tuesday has featured a ton of signings around the NFL as teams look to bring in reinforcements for training camp. For the Chicago Bears, the team has added Isaiah Ford and Buddy Johnson, and reports have surfaced indicating their interest in some notable veterans. In addition, two former Bears have signed in new destinations. Jimmy Graham returned to New Orleans on Tuesday and now, wide receiver Bryon Pringle is signing with the Washington Commanders.

Pringle followed Ryan Poles from Kansas City to join the Bears in 2022. There was plenty of speculation that Pringle could earn a starting receiver spot adjacent Darnell Mooney. Instead, Pringle battled injury for most of the season and although he suited up in 11 games, only hauled in 10 passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns.

There was plenty of hype around Pringle. If he could have stayed healthy, the narrative could be much different given his mild success in Kansas City. That said, the Kansas State product gets a fresh start with the Commanders.

Rather than returning Byron Pringle, the Bears brought back Equanimous St. Brown and Dante Pettis. Both receivers were featured heavily in a passing game that was the worst in football. However, the Chase Claypool, DJ Moore, and Tyler Scott additions left little room for the former Chief. Overall, the Bears seriously upgraded one of their worst position groups from a season ago.

Wednesday marks the official start of training camp for the Bears. The much anticipated 2023 season is almost here.
