Former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Joe Bachie has found a new home with a familiar coach.

Bachie is signing with the Indianapolis Colts, the team that hired former Cincinnati defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo to the same role this offseason.

Bachie originally joined the Bengals back in 2021 leading up to this second year in the NFL. He made the team as a backup and started contributing on special teams in the heart of the season. He was then counted on to play defensive snaps thanks to a Logan Wilson injury in the final weeks of the year before a season-ending injury took him out until halfway through the 2022 campaign.

Special teams was Bachie's home for the next three years as Cincinnati kept bringing him back on one-year deals. The Bengals opted to move from the now 27-year old while ushering in two draft picks at the position in Demetrius Knight Jr. and Barrett Carter. Wilson remains as the veteran leader, and Germaine Pratt is on the way out.

Despite the turnover at linebacker, Bachie returning would've been the expectation. His former linebackers coach, Al Golden, is back as DC and his first-ever LB coach, Mike Hodges, would've been his position coach yet again. It's clear now that while Golden appreciated what Bachie did during the '21 season under his guidance, Anarumo wanted to keep him a part of his plans on a new team.

Bachie was one of the last remaining players who had clear cases to re-sign with Cincinnati. Veterans like Vonn Bell, Trayveon Williams, and Mike Hilton are expected to land elsewhere in the league, and a few others remain free agents. Bachie is the fifth player to find a new team after the Bengals let his contract expire. Alex Cappa and Sheldon Rankins aren't a part of that five since they were released by the club.
