Former Bills Pro Bowler roasts Bengals CB Eli Apple

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Eli Apple has taken plenty of heat over the last week for tweeting disparaging remarks toward a handful of Buffalo Bills players, including injured safety Damar Hamlin.

Now, Apple appears to have drawn the ire of former Bills Pro Bowl running back LeSean McCoy, who on a recent appearance on the “I Am Athlete” podcast roasted Apple when discussing the comparison made by New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner between Apple and NBA guard Patrick Beverly.

Eli Apple was the 10th pick in the first round and Year 7 he’s been on four teams?” McCoy said. “… He’s got no All-Pros, he’s got zero Pro Bowls. I mean, he can barely pick his own number. They’re different levels of ball players. … That’s how bad you’ve got to be. You’re the 10th pick in the first round, and the second year they get rid of you? The second year?”

The 27-year-old Apple was drafted 10th overall by the New York Giants in the 2016 NFL Draft. He played two years in New York before stints with the New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers and the Bengals.

Apple registered 49 tackles, 10 forced incompletions and eight passes defensed while surrendering four touchdowns and a completion percentage of 58.3 this season.

He’s failed to live up to his billing as a top-10 pick, totaling just five career interceptions in seven seasons.
