Former Browns QB Johnny Manziel not thinking about NFL comeback

Johnny Manziel is making his much-anticipated return to football in 2021.

The former Cleveland Browns quarterback joined a startup league called Fan Controlled Football. The league, which is a first of its kind, will allow fans to call plays and make roster decisions.

While Manziel is excited to get back on the field, he admitted to TMZ Sports that he's not using the FCF as a way to make an NFL comeback:

"There are no comeback implications with me and football moving forward from here. To be honest, I got a lot of free time on my hands. I got onto the golf course life in Scottsdale, but I got a lot of free time for six weeks to come and pretty much get to be a player, coach a little bit in this."

Manziel also said that his game isn't what it used to be while he was at Texas A&M. However, he told TMZ Sports that fans will see "little flashes of the old stuff" when he takes the field for the Zappers on Saturday.

Manziel, a former Heisman Trophy winner, was drafted by the Browns 22nd overall in 2014. He spent two years with the franchise before being cut due to off-field issues. He then spent time in the Canadian Football League with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Montreal Alouettes before joining the Alliance of American Football in 2019.
