The Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver room is chock full of talent. This explains why back in April the team parted ways with wide receiver Marquez Callaway.
After signing Callaway to a reserve/futures contract in January, the Buccaneers released him in April. Callaway briefly signed with the San Francisco 49ers but was cut just a few days later.
Marquez Callaway is searching for a new team amidst training camp, having been cut by the San Francisco 49ers for the second time this year. A potential reunion with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers seems unlikely, given their current roster boasts 13 wide receivers. Callaway’s experience could still be valuable to other teams, having played for several teams including the New Orleans Saints, Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders. In his prime, he showed promise with 83 catches for 1,069 yards and seven touchdowns over 42 games with the Saints.
Callaway played for the New Orleans Saints from 2020 to 2022, appearing in 42 games with 17 starts. During this period, he caught 83 passes for 1,069 yards and seven touchdowns. One notable performance was in the Saints’ 9-0 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December 19, 2021, where he had a career-high six receptions for 112 yards.
