GLENDALE – Recent comments have surfaced about Kyler Murray from former Cardinals lineman A.Q. Shipley about the outlook of Murray’s future this season with Arizona.
In an interview with Arizona Sports 98.7, the former Cardinals center didn’t mince words: “Kyler has a tough job coming up.” That’s trench-level truth from a guy who’s seen the game from ground zero, and who’s watched Murray up close.
“Kyler has a tough job coming up.”
A. Q. Shipley said everything has looked better offensively for the Cardinals the past two weeks with Jacoby Brissett under center.

Shipley isn’t just a former offensive lineman. He’s someone who understands both player psyche and locker room dynamics. His words aren’t criticism, they’re warning shots.
Murray’s talent has never been in doubt as his quick release, freakish mobility, natural playmaking have made him become one of the most dynamic QB’s in the NFL. But the narrative has shifted. Injuries, inconsistency, and leadership question marks have piled up. The Cardinals now have a veteran QB in Jacoby Brissett who has seemingly made this offense click recently. With all of the chatter surrounding Murray and how this season has gone so far, the leash is now shorter than ever.
For Arizona fans, Shipley’s comments cut through the noise. He’s voicing what many think but few inside the league say out loud. If Murray wants to be the face of Arizona, he needs to lead like it in the huddle, in film study, and in results. Shipley didn’t throw shade, he held up a mirror. If Kyler Murray doesn’t answer the challenge now, the Cardinals may soon look for someone who will.
