Since being traded for a sixth-round pick in 2024, former Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields has continued to struggle. Now on his third team, Fields is at risk of being benched. Fields has had a very rough season with the New York Jets. The quarterback is in the midst of a seven-game losing streak and has yet to win a game.
The former Chicago Bear has struggled throwing the football this season and only has four passing touchdowns on the year, with only 845 passing yards. Unfortunately for Fields, the owner of his team has ripped him apart in a new interview.
Jets owner Woody Johnson slammed Fields’ quarterback play when asked about his thoughts on the team.
Johnson ripped Fields for his inaccuracy, stating that “if we can just complete a pass, it would look good”.

#Jets owner Woody Johnson: "It’s hard when you have a quarterback with the rating that we’ve got. … If you look at any head coach with a quarterback like that, you’re going to see similar results. …If we can just complete a pass, it would look good." pic.twitter.com/5fN0dsVEUl

Fields has thrown under 50 passing yards in back-to-back games. Fields was benched in favor of veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor during the Jets’ 13-6 loss to the Panthers. The former first-round draft pick was signed to a 2-year 40 million contract with the Jets this past offseason, replacing Aaron Rodgers.
During his three years in Chicago, Fields showed flashes of potential but failed to live up to his potential. The former Bear struggled with his passing accuracy, taking sacks, and missing open throws. Fields has unfortunately dealt with multiple years of bad coaching and bad offensive line play; however, he has had many chances to turn his career around.
With the owner of the Jets having zero faith in his quarterback, it seems that Fields’ time as a starting quarterback could be all but over.
