The Kansas City Chiefs' biggest struggle last season was the offensive line. The Chiefs could not get any good play from their offensive line in 2024. Everything the Chiefs tried to do with their offensive line last season did not work. The one reason it went unnoticed was that they were still winning games. But when it mattered the most, the Chiefs could not overcome the offensive line struggles.

Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was sacked the most in his career last season. The Chiefs brought in veteran offensive lineman DJ Humphries to see if he could help the offseason line last season, but it didn't work out the way they wanted it to.

Humphries cover to the Chiefs late in the season but was not able to play much because of an injury he suffered. He was coming off an ACL tear that he suffered in 2023. The Chiefs decided not to bring back Humphries in 2025.

The Chiefs went into the offseason with a lot of questions at the offensive line. They went out and signed Jaylon Moore. Moore is coming over from the San Francisco 49ers. Moore is unproven but has a lot of potential. The Chiefs also address more of their offensive line problems in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Now Humphries has found a new home in San Francisco.

"The search for a swing tackle is over, the San Francisco 49ers hope. On Tuesday, three days after finishing an 11-pick draft that didn’t include an offensive tackle, the 49ers signed D.J. Humphries, 31, to a one-year contract," said Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.

"A 2015 first-round pick, Humphries has made 100 career starts and was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2021. However, his career was derailed by a torn ACL he suffered in Week 17 of the 2023 season. The Cardinals released Humphries in March 2024 and he didn’t return to the NFL until the Chiefs signed him in November."

“I knew I was a tough guy already, but having to go through those things and getting those, ‘Man, you had such a great career. What a run!’ Those texts were really trying for me,” Humphries told Kansas City reporters in November. “It was like, ‘Damn, people are just assuming it’s over because I’m hurt.’ That was probably the toughest part.”
