The Indianapolis Colts officially announced the transition of the team's ownership following the passing of Jim Irsay to his three daughters.
Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt, and Kalen Jackson all became part owners of the team, just as Jim always imagined. Carlie Irsay-Gordon was named CEO and, as a result, will be viewed by the outside world as the primary owner going forward. A former Colts player and future Hall of Famer shared his full endorsement for Carlie and her ability to lead this new era of the Colts franchise.

Stephon Gilmore has had a very storied career, and the Colts are lucky to be a tiny part of it. The future Hall of Famer spent one season with the Colts in 2022 but left a massive impact on players in the locker room during his time in Indianapolis. He started all 16 games he appeared in and recorded two interceptions and 11 pass deflections. More importantly, he became a mentor and a leader in the Colts' locker room.
That year obviously didn't go as planned for the Colts, as they would go on to win only four games. As a result, the Colts did right by Gilmore and traded him to a team with a better shot of competing in the 2023 season, the Dallas Cowboys. A selfless decision by the team that gained Gilmore's respect and led him to speak very highly of his time with the team. And now he shared an unprompted glowing endorsement of Carlie Irsay-Gordon, by saying, "She's the best, the Colts are in good hands."
Seeing Gilmore go out of his way to share this endorsement of the Colts' new ownership structure was interesting, to say the least. One, because it should give fans a sense of peace knowing a player as respected as Gilmore has such a high opinion of Carlie. However, another interesting element to discuss is that Gilmore is currently a free agent. And the Colts could use another reliable starting outside CB opposite of Charvarius Ward.
Right now, the Colts are set to have multiple younger players compete to be the second starting outside CB. There is a chance that one or more of them take a step forward in their career and become a very successful starter for the Colts. But there's also a good chance that starting one of them could lead to some bumps in the road throughout the 2025 season. Signing Gilmore would raise the floor of the group tremendously. It would give the Colts three great veterans (Ward, Gilmore, and Kenny Moore II) for young players like Jaylon Jones, Justin Walley, Juju Brents, and Samuel Womack to learn from, whether that is by watching them perform on the field or by picking their brains in the meeting room.
