The 2024 season for the Miami Dolphins was a disappointment. From the injury scare to Tua Tagovailoa, to the Dolphins potentially losing Tyreek Hill and Jalen Ramsey after the year, 2025 was not the season Dolphins fans or players expected.
Poyer played his 12th season in Miami after being with the Buffalo Bills from 2017 to 2023. After his short stint in Miami, Poyer had a bold statement on Good Morning Football about the Dolphins
Jordan Poyer on his sole season with the Miami Dolphins: “Last year was an extremely tough year on so many levels. Our team wasn’t very good, I didn’t play as well as I wanted to play… transitioning from Buffalo to Miami, cultures to being different.” (@gmfb) #PhinsUp pic.twitter.com/Xp06LEpF49

"Last year was an extremely tough year on so many levels. Our team wasn't very good, I didn't play as well as I wanted to play... It was just a really tough year, obviously transitioning from Buffalo to Miami, [the] cultures being different, systems being different, it just didn't work out the way that anybody had hoped."
Poyer's statement that "Our team wasn't very good" is a claim that's ridiculous to make amid his departure. Most players won't say that their team was bad, even if the team didn't play well.
For Poyer, a player who was in Miami for just one season, to willingly say how bad the team was in 2024 is a bad look for the former Dolphins and Bills safety.
Poyer acknowledged that he wasn't very good in 2024. According to Pro Football Focus, Poyer's defensive grade overall was the worst it's been since 2016, when he was a member of the Cleveland Browns.
According to Pro Football Reference, Poyer allowed 490 yards in coverage, the most he's allowed in a single season by far since 2018. While he gave up just two touchdowns, his passer rating when targeted was 111.2, the second worst since 2018.
The former All-Pro didn't play close to his potential with Miami compared to with the Bills. Poyer had one of the worst seasons of his career in his age-33 season with the Dolphins.
Considering the circumstances the Dolphins dealt with in 2024, while the Dolphins may have struggled, having a former player call them bad is a step beyond what most players do.
Dolphins fans and players would have reason to be upset with Poyer's statement on Good Morning Football.
