Former Dolphins Safety Attacks “Dolphins Culture”….Again

Former Miami Dolphins safety DeShon Elliot hasn’t been shy since leaving the Dolphins for the Pittsburgh Steelers that he did not enjoy his time in Miami.

He has often criticized the Dolphins organization and their lack of “culture” and commitment to winning.

A few days ago, he took another shot at the Dolphins to drive this point home again.

On an episode of the Not Just Football podcast, Elliott told some of his Steelers teammates that being in Pittsburgh “is way better than Miami.”

When Steeler Cam Heyward asked him about the Dolphins, “have no culture,” the safety said That’s obvious.

“Duh,” Elliott told Heyward. “Everyone knows that though, bro. It’s funny. Look, we have two guys that just left the team and came here. Everyone knows that. Even the players, they know that.”

In 2024, on the Punch Line Podcast, Elliott called the Dolphins “soft as f—.”

And went on to say…

“There were some guys who were tough, but the majority of the (Dolphins) were not mentally tough individuals,” Elliott said, via ESPN. “So to be on a (Steelers) team with a full team of mentally tough guys going against a mentally tough team … this is going to be fun.”

“Miami is a distraction,” Elliott said. “We already didn’t hang out much as a team because there’s so much to do in Miami. Guys would disperse so much. Everyone thought they were somebody because of the mindset of ‘Oh, I’m in Miami. I can be somebody different.’”

“When we played Tennessee and lost, you can tell the heart and soul for that team disappeared,” Elliott reflected. “Guys started going out more. Guys started going to strip clubs throughout the week. Guys started showing up to meetings late. You could just tell, the Miami culture is the reason that Miami will never be good. Like, Miami will never be a good football team.

While some of the things Elliott has said and recently said are hard to argue with and are accurate, it seems like Elliott can’t seem to let it go and move on. It’s almost like he is hurt he wasn’t brought back to the Dolphins and has been lashing out ever since.

And the Dolphins have been very public this offseason about trying to fix the culture and the dynamic of the locker room, so nothing Elliott is saying isn’t being addressed or acknowledged by the Miami organization. It just seems very over the top now, two years from leaving Miami, to still be talking about this.

The Dolphins play the Pittsburgh Steelers this year on Monday Night Football on December 15th.
