Former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Bryan Braman is undergoing treatment for a very rare and life-threatening form of cancer, according to a GoFundMe set up on his behalf.

The exact type of cancer wasn’t mentioned, but the 38-year-old recently underwent CAR T-cell therapy in Seattle as part of an intense 12-week treatment plan. To cover the costs, Braman had to sell his last car and, without a permanent home, pay for a motel to stay in during treatment.

The fundraiser was started back in February by William Jones, who posted an update on June 20 saying Braman is now back with family. Still, he has been battling complications from several surgeries, largely due to a weakened immune system from all the treatment.

“By the time he was able to recover so he could continue with the chemo, the cancer has grown expedentially [sic] faster, and is is [sic] now growing around his vital organs,” Jones wrote. “The Dr’s are now concerned because of his treatment, his chemo options are very limited. They have tried all of the various treatment options, and unfortunately, none of them are working against this cancer.

“But Bryan has not given up. He is looking into other trial treatment programs, and is determined to never give up.”

As of July 5th, the GoFundMe has raised over $66,000.

"With these renewed donations, and a giant thank you goes out to ALL of you donors, Bryan will be able to get the necessities for his diet. He needs to keep up his energy through his diet, and his foods/vitamins are extremely expensive, as are fresh juices, which are what he needs," Jones wrote.

"These donations will also go a long way to help cover some of the treatment costs that are not covered by insurances. That has greatly helped Bryan to not have to focus on those, and now he can relax and recuperate."
