Schefter added that the Cowboys would be sending a 2026 third-round and 2027 fifth-round pick to the Steelers and receive a 2027 sixth-round pick in return.
Pickens, 24, was initially drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2022 NFL Draft after showing off serious talent in Athens. He made a big splash as a freshman in 2019, hauling in over 700 yards and 8 touchdowns, and quickly became one of the Bulldogs' top playmakers. Even after tearing his ACL in 2021, Pickens worked his way back onto the field and helped Georgia win a national championship. Despite the injury, his size, hands, and ability to make tough catches caught the attention of NFL teams, and the Steelers picked him up in the second round at No. 52 overall.
Pickens heads to Dallas following a 2024 season where he logged 59 catches for 900 yards and three touchdowns. He has been a steady piece for the Steelers, recording at least 50 receptions, 800 yards, and three touchdowns in each of his three seasons with the team.
The Cowboys could really use a guy like Pickens to upgrade their wide receiver room. Pairing him with CeeDee Lamb provides Dak Prescott another weapon and will give the offense a serious boost and take some pressure off their No. 1 wideout.
In three NFL seasons so far, Pickens has appeared in 48 regular-season games, starting 40, and recorded 174 catches for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns.
