Former Gopher Daniel Faalele traded to Jaguars

Former Gophers offensive lineman Daniel Faalele is reportedly on the move after just one preseason game with the Giants, according to Giants beat reporter Evan Barnes.

Faalele followed John Harbaugh to the Giants this offseason after four seasons in Baltimore. The 6-foot-8, 370-pound lineman was drafted by the Ravens in the fourth round of the 2022 draft. Faalele appeared in 66 games in his four seasons, starting every game of the previous two seasons, with the Ravens, largely as a right guard.

New York is sending Faalele to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a sixth-round pick in the 2027 draft. He was on the field for just 13 snaps in Saturday’s preseason loss to the Vikings, playing nine snaps at left guard and four at right guard.

In three seasons at the University of Minnesota, Faalele appeared in 34 games as the team’s starting right tackle. He allowed a total of 33 pressures and just five sacks over the course of his three seasons as a Gopher.

Despite starring in college — where he registered a 76.6 PFF pass block grade and a 78.9 run block grade in his senior season — Faalele has struggled at the NFL level. He has allowed 12 sacks and 82 total pressures in four professional seasons, never finishing a season with a pass blocking grade higher than 63.2.
