The Colts drafted Dorsett out of Miami with the 29th pick in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. The team had had quite a bit of success in the. past with drafting Miami players in the first round, including legends Edgerrin James and Reggie Wayne, who came from the program. Dorsett wasn't able to live up to that same standard, though.

He only spent two seasons with the Colts, appearing in 25 games and making seven starts. He recorded 51 receptions for 753 yards and three touchdowns. His best season with the Colts was his second year in the NFL, where he set his still career high of 528 yards in a season. Dorsett was traded to the New England Patriots in exchange for QB Jacoby Brissett.

While he did not live up to his first-round draft selection, Dorsett has been able to hang around in the NFL  for going on ten years where he has appeared in regular-season action in eight different seasons. Since leaving the Colts, Dorsett has spent time with the Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texans and most recently the Denver Broncos in 2023. Now he is joining the Las Vegas Raiders and future Hall of Fame head coach Pete Carrol ahead of the team's training camp. It's a pretty solid opportunity as well with the WR room behind their three projected starter leaving a lot to be desired. He will not look to compete for a roster spot and try to prolong a lackluster but still long professional career.
