Former Jets QB thinks Aaron Rodgers is planning comeback documentary

Former New York Jets quarterback and current "The NFL Today" analyst Boomer Esiason believes Jets signal-caller Aaron Rodgers is working on a project related to Rodgers' recovery from the torn Achilles he suffered in Week 1 of the ongoing season.

"And you know a documentary is coming," Esiason said about the subject during Wednesday's edition of the WFAN "Boomer and Gio" program, as shared by Ryan Chichester of Audacy. "There's 100% a documentary coming either on Max or Netflix or something on this miraculous rehab that we're going through. They may not be following him around at Jet camp, but wherever he's rehabbing or wherever he's doing the beginning of the rehab, you know we're gonna get the documentary, you just know it. I'm telling you."

Rodgers previously lamented that the Jets had the summer HBO "Hard Knocks" assignment forced "down our throats," but that was before the future Hall of Famer who turned 40 years old this past Saturday went down with what was thought at the time to be a season-ending injury on Sept. 11. He has since made a remarkable recovery, and it was said as recently as last week that he could try to play at the Miami Dolphins on Dec. 17 if the Jets managed to be at 6-7 by that weekend.

New York instead is 4-8 and, per the ESPN Football Power Index, has a 0.1% chance to make the playoffs with or without Rodgers.

"He's going to seize every opportunity, which he should," Esiason added about Rodgers. "I don't necessarily know that I have a problem with that."

Esiason still has ties to the Jets and predicted last week that Rodgers won't play again before next summer largely because the club is 14th in the overall conference standings. However, Esiason suggested on Wednesday that a documentary could "be the only motivation for [Rodgers] to even attempt to come back on the field."

Head coach Robert Saleh confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that he's going back to Zach Wilson as his QB1 when the Jets host the 7-5 Houston Texans this Sunday. As of Wednesday afternoon, oddschecker listed Gang Green as a four-point underdog versus Houston.
