Former Las Vegas Raiders Starter Suddenly Unretires To Play For Indianapolis Colts
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

A former Las Vegas Raiders draft pick has signed with an AFC team looking to make a late playoff push this season. The Indianapolis Colts are 7-6, and their record is good enough to hold the AFC’s seventh seed if the playoffs were held today.

The Colts’ season was in doubt earlier in the season when they lost rookie Anthony Richardson for the season due to injury. However, backup quarterback Gardner Minshew has kept the Colts competitive. But the Colts have a concerning injury on their offensive line.

Right tackle Braden Smith suffered a knee injury that made him inactive for the Colts’ loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 14. The Colts added depth at offensive tackle Monday morning.

Former Las Vegas Raiders OT signs with the Colts

According to Tom Pelissero with the NFL Network, the Colts are signing offensive tackle Jared Veldheer to the practice squad.

The Raiders (when they were in Oakland) drafted Veldheer in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He stayed with the Raiders through the 2013 season and made 48 starts during his four-year span with the team. Veldheer last played in an NFL game for the Indianapolis Colts during the 2020 season.
